OUR CURRICULUM: THE ENGLISH NATIONAL CURRICULUM

Recognised globally for its academic excellence, the English National Curriculum is one of the most sought-after educational pathways, celebrated for its emphasis on high standards, critical thinking, and nurturing confident, independent learners. Delivered through inquiry-based or project-based learning, this dynamic approach fosters a deep passion for learning and challenges students to apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios, making it one of the most engaging curricula worldwide.

The curriculum progresses through clearly defined stages, starting with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for children aged 3 to 5, laying a strong foundation for Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6). Its structure balances academic rigour with creative exploration, ensuring a holistic education that caters to diverse interests and abilities.

Core subjects include English, Mathematics, and Science, supported by foundation subjects such as Design and Technology, ICT, History, Geography, Music, Art and Design, Physical Education, and Personal, Health, and Social Development. In the UAE, the curriculum is enriched with Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies, aligning with Ministry of Education requirements.

With its robust framework and adaptable learning methodologies, the English National Curriculum equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel in a rapidly changing world.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7 – 9)

Students continue to build on a solid foundation in key subjects like English, mathematicsand science while also introducing a wide variety of other disciplines to help students develop a range of skills. Key Stage 3 deepens their learning and introduces more specialized subject content, preparing them for the academic challenges of GCSEs in Key Stage 4.

  • Focus shifts towards in-depth study, development of critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • More challenging content is introduced, with an emphasis on conceptual understanding and application of knowledge.
  • The curriculum becomes more specialized, and students are expected to think analytically and independently, particularly in subjects like Mathematics, Science, and English.
  • The curriculum is structured to be more subject-specific, with individual subject teachers (e.g., one teacher for Mathematics, another for English, etc.). Students are expected to develop independent learning skills and engage in more complex tasks, including research, project-based learning, and critical thinking exercises.
  • There is more focus on extended writing, problem-solving tasks, and independent study.
